In a surprising turn of events, former US President Donald Trump and former Indian cricket skipper MS Dhoni met and played golf at a private club in Florida on Wednesday. The club is located near Trump’s residence, where he has been living since leaving the White House.
The internet was flooded with photos and videos of the two sporting icons in their golf outfits, along with their caddies. Dhoni wore a blue T-shirt, and black jeans, while Trump donned his trademark red MAGA hat, a white polo shirt, and black trousers.
Sources said that Trump invited Dhoni to join him for a round of golf, and the two had a cordial chat and exchanged compliments. Dhoni also presented Trump with a cricket bat signed by him as a gesture of gratitude.
Dhoni is a passionate golfer and frequently plays the game in his leisure time. He has also taken part in various golf competitions in India and overseas. Trump is also an avid golfer and has several golf properties around the globe. He has golfed with many famous personalities and world leaders, such as Tiger Woods, Shinzo Abe, and Kim Jong Un.
Dhoni is currently on vacation in the US with his wife Sakshi and daughter Ziva. He was earlier seen at the US Open 2023 quarter-final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev on Tuesday. He watched the game from the stands and conversed with his friends.
Dhoni hung up his boots from international cricket in 2020, but still plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He captained CSK to their fifth IPL trophy in 2023, matching Mumbai Indians’ record. He confirmed that he will play one more season for CSK in 2024.
Dhoni is widely regarded as one of the greatest captains and finishers in cricket history. He is the only captain to win all three major ICC trophies: the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He has also won several individual awards and accolades for his achievements on and off the field.
